The ANAF summary statement, without having to decipher it
The summary statement for the taxpayer is the list of the company's obligations and payments to the state. It is hard to read: codes, amounts per tax, payments that appear late. eConta reads it for you and subtracts the bank payments made after the statement date, so you see how much you really still have to pay.
- The balance owed to the state, for each tax and contribution
- What is overdue and what is not yet due
- A warning if the statement is older than 40 days
The statement of payment obligations from SPV, with the IBAN ready to copy
You see what you have to pay to the state, by when and into which Treasury account. You copy the payment details and you are done, without searching for the right IBAN for each tax.

Radu, your AI CFO
ANAF, up to date tells you what you have to pay. Radu tells you whether you have the money for it: he puts the money in the account, the suppliers and the invoices to collect next to the taxes, and answers with your company's figures.
10 questions a month to Radu are included. The figures in the example are invented.
Do I have enough money for the taxes due on the 25th, if I also pay my suppliers?
Yes. After taxes and suppliers, about 21,000 RON is left. If the two invoices are not collected on time, about 11,500 RON is left: still enough.
- In the account today
- 41,800 RON
- Taxes due on the 25th (VAT, tax, salaries)
- − 17,950 RON
- Suppliers due by the 25th
- − 12,400 RON
- To be collected by the 25th (2 invoices)
- + 9,600 RON
- Left after the 25th
- ~ 21,000 RON
Taxes come from the month's returns, and collections from the invoices due by the 25th.
ANAF debts: what to read, what to pay, what you can do
Checking ANAF debts: how to read the summary statement
Each line is an obligation, with the amounts due, the payments recorded and the balance. Always check the issue date: a payment made yesterday may not be included yet. Interest and penalties appear separately from the tax itself.
How to get the statement of payment obligations
From SPV, by sending a document request; the answer arrives there too. In eConta you do not request anything yourself: your accountant brings the data from SPV through ANAF Client, and you see the amounts and deadlines in the app.
Paying without penalties
You pay on time, into the correct account. Penalties and interest grow with each day of delay, and an overdue amount paid early costs less. For each amount you have the deadline and the IBAN in one place.
Instalments, when you cannot pay everything
Debts can be paid in instalments through a request to ANAF, approved under certain conditions. Your accountant tells you whether it is worth it and helps you with the request. The limitation period is not a solution to rely on without checking.

What clients say
“I've worked with eConta for over a year, and what won me over is predictability. I send documents straight from WhatsApp, I get quick answers, and I know exactly what I have to do and by when. There is no more "I forgot" or "I didn't know".”
“The platform is well thought out: I have clarity on payment obligations, clear steps for what I have to do, and a predictable response time from the accountant. For an entrepreneur, that means being able to focus on the business, not on accounting.”
“I've been with eConta since the start of the company, in January 2024. I haven't missed a single payment deadline thanks to the notifications, and I can send any document straight from WhatsApp. Simple and hassle-free.”
“I use eConta to the fullest: invoicing, supplier notifications, recurring contracts, WhatsApp for documents, reminders for obligations. For a tech company like ours, it's exactly the kind of tool that disappears from view, because it simply works.”
Questions about ANAF
How do I find out if my company has debts to ANAF?
The check is done from the summary statement for the taxpayer (fișa sintetică pe plătitor), which you request in SPV (the Virtual Private Space). In eConta, your accountant brings the SPV data, and the ANAF, up to date page shows you the balance owed to the state, what is overdue and the bank payments made after the statement date. For a quick check of the company's status (active, VAT-registered, inactive for tax purposes) there are also the public services on anaf.ro.
What is the summary statement for the taxpayer?
It is the ANAF document that shows, for each tax and contribution, what you have to pay, what you have paid and what remains. It shows the situation on the date it was issued; payments made after that appear in the statement later.
How do I read and interpret the summary statement?
Read it line by line: each line is an obligation (for example profit tax, VAT or contributions), with the amounts due, the payments recorded and the balance. A balance to pay means you still owe money; a zero balance means the obligation is settled. Look at the date the statement was issued and check whether recent payments are already included. Interest and penalties, if any, appear separately from the tax itself. If a line does not match what you paid, ask your accountant before you pay again.
How do I get the summary statement online?
From SPV, by sending ANAF a document request; the answer also arrives in SPV. You need access to the company's SPV (enrolment with a digital certificate or another method accepted by ANAF). With eConta you do not do these steps yourself: your accountant brings the SPV data through ANAF Client, the accounting practice's application, and you see the result, explained, in the ANAF, up to date page.
What is the statement of payment obligations and where do I see it in SPV?
It is the list of what you have to pay to the state, with amounts and deadlines. You request it from SPV, as a document. In eConta you see it directly in the ANAF, up to date page, with the amounts, the deadlines and the payment IBAN for each tax, ready to copy.
How do I pay my ANAF debts without penalties?
The safest way is to pay on time, into the correct account for each tax or contribution. Penalties and interest are calculated for each day of delay, so the sooner you pay the overdue amount, the less builds up. That is why it matters to have the amount, the deadline and the IBAN at hand. If you already have overdue amounts, your accountant tells you in what order to pay them and what options you have.
Can I pay my ANAF debts in instalments?
Yes, debts can be paid in instalments, based on a request filed with ANAF and approved by it, under conditions that ANAF checks. It is not approved automatically, and the terms depend on the company's situation. Your accountant helps you see whether it suits you and file the request.
Are ANAF debts older than 5 years time-barred?
The state's right to claim payment is time-barred, as a general rule, after 5 years, but the period can be interrupted or suspended, and each case has its own calculation. Do not rely on the limitation period without checking the company's specific situation with your accountant.
How often is the company status checked?
The company status (active, VAT, address, registered office) is checked daily with ANAF, and what changes appears in "What changed". The statement and the SPV messages come through your accountant, who brings them through ANAF Client. If the statement is older than 40 days, the page warns you that the amounts may be out of date.
